PHS/EHD has
also reviewed historic documents pertaining to this site and has the following comments
for your consideration.
PHS/EHD requested in correspondence dated July 26, 1991 that a downgradient well be
installed to continue the groundwater investigation necessary to define the plume of
groundwater contamination.
A work plan was submitted for the installation of a downgradient well and the
destruction of monitoring well, MW1, which has gone dry due to local drought conditions.
PHS/EHD permits #91-3153 and #91-3154 were issued December 13, 1991 for the
proposed field activities.
To date field activities have not commenced. In order to proceed with the investigation
necessary to determine the boundaries of groundwater contamination, please plan to
schedule field work for the installation of a downgradient well by August 10, 1992.
Residual soil contamination, associated with former underground storage tanks #1, #2,
and #3 removed December 1986, remains as a source of contamination to groundwater.
Once groundwater contamination is defined, a problem assessment report should be
prepared exploring remedial alternatives.
A Division of Vn Joaquin county Health tare services
