October 13 , 1988 Page 5
Chevron U. S .A. 16000-105-03
• CONCLUSIONS
3
Based upon review and interpretation of the data
obtained in the field at the time of the soil vapor survey ,
` coupled with field observations and discussions with the
° facilities employees at the time of the field investigation ,
the following general conclusions have been developed and are
summarized for your consideration as follows
d
- The data obtained from the soil vapor survey
t conducted at the subject property has been
interpreted as suggesting non-detectable levels of
petroleum hydrocarbons contamination in all soil
vapor survey locations , at the depths and locations
tested , with exception of the VP-7 soil vapor survey
sampling location.
The results of the soil vapor analysis conducted on
the sample obtained from the VP-7 sample location
had shown the presence of benzene and toluene . The
VP-7 sample location was situated near the eastern
end of the northernmost dispenser island , in an area
purported to have recently sustained a surface spill
. of a small amount of unleaded gasoline
a The soil vapor survey is a relatively generalized
assessment of trends suggested by interpretation of data
obtained in the field at the time of the investigation. The
} soil vapor survey' s objective is to provide cursory
information to be utilized as a planning tool for possible
future investigation of subsurface contamination as
interpreted from the cursory soil vapor survey assessment .
However, this type of investigation is characterized by the
calculated risk that the presence , full nature and extent of
contamination may not be fully disclosed by the methods used
s.
Dames & Moore warrants that its services have been
performed within the limits prescribed by the Client , in
accordance with current generally accepted principals and
practices of civil and geotechnical engineering and
engineering geology. No other warranty or representation ,
either expressed or implied , is included in this report .
ry
s The conclusions and recommendations presented in this
report are professional opinions based on the indicated data
described in this report . They are intended only for the
purpose , site location and project indicated The conclusions
and recommendations presented in this report are based on the
assumption that subsurface conditions do not deviate from
those observed during our study , as described in this report .
It should be recognized that this study was not intended to
be a definitive study of contamination at the site Other
