's subsurface investigation at the Chevron Service Station <br /> located at 6633 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California (See Figure <br /> 1, Site Location Map). The investigation was performed in <br /> accordance with a work request dated December 22, 1986 from Mike <br /> Manos of Chevron USA. The investigation was conducted to provide <br /> an assessment of subsurface conditions after hydrocarbon <br /> constituents were detected in the tank backfill material during <br /> tank excavation. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located in central San Joaquin County within the <br /> town of Stockton, California and is approximately 12 feet above <br /> sea level. The station is presently being remodeled and the <br /> underground storage tanks, piping, and fuel islands have been <br /> removed from the site. During the removal of the storage tanks <br /> in December of 1986, hydrocarbon components were detected in <br /> soil samples in the bottom of the tank pit. (See Figure 2, Site <br />
