i <br /> Chevron / Pacific Avenue <br /> February 27, 1967 <br /> sampling was conducted in accordance with Groundwater <br /> Technology's Standard Operating Procedures SOP 11, 14 and 15 (See <br /> Appendix II) . <br /> MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> Because groundwater was encountered during drilling a <br /> monitoring well was installed. The well was constructed of two- <br /> inch diameter, 0.020-inch machine slotted, PVC well screen and <br /> blank casing. The well screen was installed from the bottom of <br /> the boring to 40 feet below grade. Blank casing was used to <br /> complete the well to the surface. A well pack consisting of <br /> washed #2 Monterey sand was placed in the annulus from the bottom <br /> of the boring to 39 feet below grade. The well was finished <br /> with a bentonite seal and concrete (See Appendix 1 for well <br /> construction details) . <br /> GROUNDWATER SAMPLING <br /> The welly was developed by hand bailing on January 8, 1987, <br /> and water sampling was conducted on Jar:uary 9, 1987 with an EPA <br /> approved Teflon sampler. The groundwater sample was collected, <br /> preserved and transported under chain of custody in accordance <br /> with Groundwater Technology's Standard Operating Procedures <br /> 9, 10 and 11 (See Appendix II). Laboratory analysis for total <br /> hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene and xylene was performed by a <br /> modified EPA Method 602. <br /> 6 <br />
