r v v
Chevron / Pacific Avenue
February 27, 1987
were noted. No odors were noted to a depth of 60 feet where the
boring was terminated. Field analysis of soil samples, with a
photo-ionization detector (PID) indicated ionizing volatile
compounds present in a range of 1.5 ppm to 330 ppm.
Concentrations below approximately 150 ppm correspond with slight
gasoline odors noted during drilling. Soil samples collected at
W 14 and 49 feet below grade as required by San Joaquin County
Health Department for laboratory analysis. Department of Water
Resources, Bulletin 118, indicated no concentrations of total
hydrocarbons or BTX above analysis method detection limit (See
Appendix III for Laboratory Result copies) .
Water was encountered at approximately 4-7 feet below the
surface. The results of the laboratory analysis of the
groundwater sample collected on January 9, 1987 record the
presence of dissolved total hydrocarbons at a concentration of
990 ppb parts per billion (ppb) and benzene, toluene, and xylene
in concentrations of 32.0 ppb, 47 ppb and 43 ppb respectively
(See Appendix III for copies of the laboratory analysis) .
-- CLOSURE
We trust this report meets the needs of Chevron USA at this
time.
