The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Site Assessment
Work Plan dated March 7,2008, prepared and submitted by Conestoga-Rovers &Associates, Inc.
(CRA) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. The work plan was submitted to investigate
the source of the diesel-range hydrocarbons near the diesel pump station and monitoring well
MW-6, and assess the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and groundwater toward
the northwest, west, south, and southeast of the diesel pump station and MW-6.
In thework plan, CRA proposes to advance approximately twelve direct push GeoprobeO soil
borings to approximately thirty feet below surface grade at locations illustrated on Figure 2 of the
work plan for the purpose of evaluating soil lithology and collecting soil and grab groundwater
samples for.analysis. The EHD approves the work plan as submitted with the condition that you
include the analyses for tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) in
addition to analyzing soil and grab .groundwater samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as gasoline (TPHg); TPH quantified as diesel (TPHd); TPH quantified as motor oil
(TPHmo); benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); and methyl tertiary-butyl
ether(MTBE).
Please submit a boring permit application and permit/inspection fee of $383 to the EHD and
complete the fieldwork by June 6, 2008. Notify the EHD at least seventy-two hours prior to
commencing the fieldwork.
