Yor
Work P1anAdditional Site Assessment
1022 Frontage Road,Ripon, California
C A M B R I A July 2s, 2006
Advance three cone penetration test(CPT)borings in the vicinity of the former USTs,MW-6,
and west of the former USTs to obtain electronic lithologic logs and depth-discrete
groundwater samples.
les.P
li
The locations of the proposed borings are shown on Figure 3.
5.1 Pre-Field Activities
Prior to initiating field activities Cambria will conduct the following tasks:
5.1.1 Site Health and Safety Plan
A site-specific health and safety plan will be prepared to educate site workers and minimize their
exposure to potential hazards related to site activities.
5.1.2 Permits
A soil boring permit will be obtained from SJCEHD.
5.1.3 Utility Clearance
The proposed drilling locations will be pre-marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert
(USA)will be notified of the drilling and sampling activities at least 72 hours before work begins. A
private utility locator will also be retained to clear the proposed drilling locations of any unmarked
utilities. To avoid hitting any subsurface utilities, the first eight feet of each soil borings will be
advanced using a hang auger and thereafter using a direct push rig Geoprobe°or CPT rig. ,r Psis d
ICA
5.2 Soil and Groundwater Sampling Using Geoprobe 01 WU 'I YO r2 Each Geoprobe°boring will be advanced to a depth of approximately 25 ft bgs,and if necessary, the
borings maybe advanced deeper to vertically delineate petroleum hydrocarbons in soil. Previously
- collected soil data demonstrates that the majority of petroleum hydrocarbon impact is detected above
11 --25 ft bgs(Table 1). During drilling, undisturbed soil samples will be continuously collected using a
four-ft barrel sampler lined with acetate sleeves. Soil will be visually examined and classified in a
general accordance with Unified Soil Classification System(USCS). Field screening of hydrocarbons G
will include visual and/or olfactory observations, and photoionization detector (PID) readings.
Pertinent information including soil lithology,PID readings, and sample depths will be recorded on a 5d
soil boring log. Grab groundwater samples will be collected from the open borehole using a new
disposal bailer. Once a groundwater sample has been collected, the soil boring will be trernie grouted
from the bottom up using cement grout.Cambria's standard field procedures for Geoprobe°sampling
are presented as Attachment C.
7
