Ob June 2003
AGE-NC Project No 98-0433
2.0. LOCAL SURFACE/GROUND WATER SETTING
The closest surface water feature to the site is the Stanislaus River located approximately 9,000 feet
south of the site The river is used primarily for agricultural use and recreational boating Ground
water is currently encountered at a depth of approximately 25 feet below surface grade (bsg) at the
site, and has a northerly flow direction Historical high ground water levels reached 15 feet bsg
during the period when the former UST were removed Ground water has occurred in a generally
sandy layer extending from approximately 15 feet bsg to 25 feet bsg The sedimentary units are
relatively horizontal and somewhat continuous over the site
3.0. WELL SURVEY
A well survey was performed to Identify, city, domestic, irrigation or monitoring water wells located
within a 2,000-foot radius of the subject site Representatives of AGE performed a reconnaissance
for visible potential receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of the above referenced site The San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) was contacted to identify and locate
potential receptors within a 2,000-foot radius of the site The EHD confirmed information obtained
from the Ripon public works and DWR The following is a summary of the findings of the well
survey
Momtorin.g Wells
Ground water monitoring wells are located on the Ripon Farm Service property(MW-1 to MW-5),
directly south of the Jimco Truck Plaza site The wells Identified are utilized for monitoring site-
specific impacts, remediation and pose limited potential to be impacted by the site
Domestic Wells
Drinking water at the Jimco Truck Stop site is currently supplied by a domestic well, located at well
MW-8 A second well, located 175 feet south east of the site, supplies non-potable water for the
Ripon Farm Service A third well serves the residence southeast of the site Several other local
domestic wells were located and are summarized in the Well Table The location of significant wells
is depicted on Figure 1
Municipal Wells The City ofRipon has established twelve wells Five of the twelve wells have been
either abandoned or are off-line due to high inorganic contamination Seven wells are operational
and are tested or have been tested for California Title 22 contaminants One well is located
approximately 750 feet west of the site This well was recently established and has been activated
i
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
Y^
