Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site (Plate 2).
Proposed Septic System
Mr. Contreras plans to build a new septic system for the new residence.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. One permit was identified:
• November 13, 1963 permit for new residential septic system. The system utilized
a 1,200-gallon septic tank, two 75-foot leach lines, and two 33-inch diameter by
25-foot deep seepage pits.
The permit has been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 245 septic systems
per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The residential parcels
to the west and southwest of the Site that are part of the City of Stockton and receive
municipal sewer services were not included in the estimate.
The Site is located within a rural residential neighborhood; to the west and east of this
neighborhood are higher density residential areas. A park lies to the south of the
neighborhood, and agricultural land lies to the north.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach
lines with 25-foot deep seepage pits; two systems utilized leach lines with shallow
sumps. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 20-03 Page 2
