t II
t
CGG LAND SEISMIC
L A DIVISION OF CGG AMER€CAN SERVICES.INC.
E '3
r
EXPLANATION OF THE MYRIASEIS SURVEY SYSTEM
CGG Land Seismic has developed a portable seismic recording
system capable of exploring for natural resources , specifically
oil and gas , in a transitional marine environment .
This system, which is referred to as the Myriaseis system,
is'iby design capable of acquiring; seismic information in
regions where , in the past , conventional Land seismic
operations have been unsuccessfull .
,a
In, short , this system is designed to access delta lands and
agricultural lands in an efficient: manner and with an absolute
€ minimum of surface damage . I have provided , for your information ,
a brief explanation which 'details what' operational procedelres
can be expected when conducting this survey .
PHASE I PERMIT AND SURVEY
After the permit' agent has acquired consent for- access onto
al.l lands and relayed those conditions agreed to between the
lQdowner and permit agent to crew personnel then survey
operations will commence . A survey crew will - then place
` surface flagging along the proposed seismic route . This
€ operation will require the use of a standard pickup truck
or lightweight All Terrain Vehicles .
PHASE II DRILL OPERATION
Tyis survey will utilize the shothole technique whereby a
specially- designed drill buggy will drill a series of shotholes
to a depth of 50 feet . This drill buggy is similar in appearance
to a farm tractor and is equiped with all terrain flotation
w type tires , thus enabling it to drill in a wetlands environment .
If ground conditions are not saturated then a convential
drill rig will be employed . A 5 pound explosive charge an§ a
disposable hydrophone , or earth sounding device , will be lowered
into each drillhole . The drillhole will then be backfilled to
E the surface, with a, compound of coarse bentonite clay . This
compound will completely seal the hole so as to aleviate any
potential problem, pertaining to agricultural irrigation or
1
tie mixing of subsurface aquafcrs .
W the event that the drill please results in darn%jis or
rutting then CGG will remain liable for restoration of the land .
PHASE III RECORDING
By means of either helecopter or lightwe.ight ' All Terrain Vehi_• les
depending on ground conditions , a radio transmitting :Device will
be placed at each drillhole location . This device iz Oesigned
6W"MPSNIREROAD to transmit seismic information over distances where , lu til
5WEsrv,KEvluACE,CAUKANw past , surface cables and sensors have been required .
91361 Allicensed blaster will then detonate the explosive charge . Due
eos,s6.3„ to the depth and small size of the charge no damages will
213.9917060 - result from the detonation .
TELEX:182875
