Hydrocarbon contamination (toluene,
ethlybenzene, xylenes and gasoline) was detected in soil samples collected from beneath the
UST's. The contaminated soil was left in place.
In a letter to Rond Estate dated June 30, 1992, from the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services- Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) stated "the presence of contaminants
Lat your facility [7001 Rond Road] exceed [sic] the allowable limits of leaching potential as
recommended by the LUFT Manual. The former underground storage tanks (UST) cannot
be recommended for final closure without further investigation to determine the full extent
of the soil and/or groundwater problem." In order to secure a PHS/EHD recommendation
for closure, Ms. Patricia Duncan retained GeoAudit to install and sample one groundwater
monitoring well at the site.
2.3 Groundwater Depth and Gradient
.
