r 0
An eight-inch well-diameter was assumed in the ground water model for new injection and
extraction wells in order to compute head losses due to convergence and well inefficiency.
l Eight-inch wells provide for flexibility in equipment specification.
J 9.4 Well Effluent TCE Concentrations
The conceptual design of the Central Area ground water treatment system is facilitated if the
concentration of TCE in the extraction well effluent is known over the estimated lifetime of the
facility. These estimates can be made using RAND31) output from the Optimal Design
jScenario. RAND31) calculates the mass of TCE exiting each extraction well at specified intervals
J during the transport simulations. The data were used to compute TCE effluent concentration
curves for each well and flow-weighted averages for each zone in the Central Area.
Well effluent TCE concentration curves are provided in Figures 9-2 through 9-5. Wells
designated as "AB" wells (460-AB and 453-AB) are arbitrarily included as A-zone effluent for
averaging purposes. Model results summarized in Figure 9-5 suggest A- and C-zone effluent
J will remain above 5 µ/1 for approximately 30 years, and B-zone effluent for approximately 40
years.
l
I
If
1
l
9 - 6
I
