Mr. Abel W. Haines, P.E.
January 2, 1992
Page 2
The Department recommends that prior to the finalization of
the Record of Decision for Ground Water Remediation that Sharpe
and the regulatory agencies meet to discuss and resolve this
issue. One of the goals of such a meeting would be to establish
effluent discharge standards that would be necessary to design
the ground water treatment system for Sharpe. This meeting
should be scheduled as soon as possible.
Although the Department has the outstanding concerns, as
discussed above, the Department will allow the Draft Final Ground
Water FS and Draft Final Risk Assessment to become final pending
concurrence by the other Federal Facility Agreement Parties
(i.e. , the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Regional
Water Quality Control Board) .
If you should have any questions or comments regarding this
matter, please contract Ms. Tracie Billington at (916) 855-7873 .
Sincerely,
David Wang, P.E. , Chief
Federal Facilities Unit
Site Mitigation Branch
Region 1
cc: San Joaquin Local Health District
P.O.
