It appears that all except one of EPA's
comments on the Revised Proposed Decision Logic for Operation of Extraction Wells have been
addressed. The exception is noted below.
General Comment 1: The response partially addresses the comment, but no justification
is provided for the choice of the potential mass removal rate of 200 micrograms per minute
(ug/min). Please explain why 200 ug/min is the appropriate potential mass removal rate
for a decision to shut down an extraction well.
Also, please consider whether it might be appropriate to have a two-tiered decision criteria
that might allow pulsed operations.
If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at (415) 972-3002.
Sincerely,
Xuan-Mai Tran
Federal Facility and Site Cleanup Branch
Superfund Division (SFD-8)
cc: (See Distribution List)
