Mr. Jim Pinasco
P;:ge 2
Section6 2 age 6-6 It is stated that "QC data that do not meet
established QC requirements will be rejected, and corrective
action. . .will be taken. " What are these established QC
requirements? As stated previously, the QAPP should define
specific QA/QC objectives that must be met and should define
exactly how QA/QC data that do not meet these specific QA/QC
objectives will be used to qualify corresponding environmental
sample data.
Section 7 . 2 In the first paragraph the sentence that reads "a
sample with high background levels" should be changed to read "a
sample with high levels of interferences" .
Section 8 . 1. 5. 1 and Section 8 . 1. 5. 2 Explain the rationale for
not using the percent recovery from actual samples for
purposes. In fact, using percent recoveries from actual samples
Will yield more useful data than using only percent recoveries
from "standard matrix" samples. The moving average percent
recovery is not valid. The percent recovery should be compared
to specific QC requirements and this comparison should be used to
qualify environmental samples in the same lot.
Section 8 . 2 . 1 This section should be rewritten to reflect
comments made in previous section.
Section 8 . 2 . 2 The moving average for accuracy and precision
control is not valid. Accuracy and precision data should be
compared to specific QC requirements and this comparison should
lot.
be used to qualify this
samples in the corresponding
Section 11. 1 Limits for accuracy and precision should be
established prior to the analysis of any samples .
Section 12 . 0 Corrective actions should be defined in relation to
specific QC requirements.
All!
Neal J.
