b. Trainer qualifications are as follows: <br /> • (1) The 24-hour initial training and the eight-hour refresher course <br /> were developed by the U.S. Army Logistics Management College, and the <br /> instructor is certified by this school as having satisfactorily completed all <br /> requirements for teaching these subjects. <br /> (2) The hazard communication training is provided by the Safety <br /> Office by a qualified Safety Engineer. This' instructor has completed <br /> training courses for teaching these subjects and has demonstrated a good <br /> command of the subject matter of these courses and competent instructional <br /> skills. <br /> (3) Sharpe' s Hazardous Waste Facility Manager is also an accredited <br /> instructor for the U.S. Army Logistics Management College (ALMC) at Fort Lee, <br /> Virginia. He is currently certified to teach the following courses, <br /> workshops, and seminars: <br /> o Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course, 40 hours <br /> o Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Workshop, 24 hours <br /> o Defense Executive Environmental and Hazardous Materials Workshop, <br /> 24 hours <br /> o Defense Executive Environmental and Hazardous Materials Seminar, <br /> 8 hours <br /> o Defense Hazardous Material/Waste Handling Seminar, 8 hours <br /> • (4) University of California will provide other HAZMAT training <br /> needs. <br /> c. Content of the Program <br /> (1) Training in waste management procedures, including contingency <br /> plan implementation, relevant to the employees' positions; <br /> (2) Training in competence to perform field tests for identification <br /> of hazardous waste (e.g. , for pH and flammability) . If person' s position <br /> requires a lot of sampling, he or she will be sent to a sampling course <br /> (e.g. , EPA' s Sampling of Hazardous Materials) . Persons involved in <br /> identification of hazardous materials/waste (e.g. , HAZMAT Response Personnel , <br /> HWF Manager, etc. ) receive more intensive training on field tests, reference <br /> materials, and sampling. Courses are selected based on the needs of specific <br /> employee. <br /> (3) Training in emergency procedures, equipment, and systems. <br /> (a) Procedures for using, inspecting, repairing, and replacing <br /> emergency and monitoring equipment. Training in general terms is handled by <br /> the formal courses. Specific training is the responsibility of the <br /> supervisor. <br /> (b) Key parameters for automatic waste-feed cut-off system (if <br /> applicable) . <br /> • IX-3 <br />
