Acampo Plant Site -
M 19256 N Highway 99, Acampo, CA
L Please find below and attached, Monitoring Well Analysis Report for the subject site,
covering sampling event of June 26, 2004.
Background
The site is on approximately 2,13 AC of relatively fiat, covered by aggregate road
base, improved land hosting a liquid asphalt and lignin based road oil storage and
mixing facility. The site's industrial history has been chronicled back to 1955.
Currently there are 16 above ground storage tanks containing petroleum
hydrocarbon, water or lignin based products. The site is active. In 1985 the
business was purchased by Mike and John Telfer and renamed Western Oil and
Spreading, Inc. (WOS). The site is bordered on the north by an open field
(previously an apple orchard), to the east and south by open fields and to the west by
several homes, separating it from the frontage road. It is one quarter mile south of
Woodbridge Road in Acampo, CA within San Joaquin County. Reference
ATTACHMENT 1, LOCATION MAP.
Four underground storage tanks were removed from the site in October 19871.
Petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was discovered resulting in an ongoing effort to
characterize, remedy possible contamination and close the site.
D.K. Barber P.E. and Associates continued characterization efforts from October 2000
through April 2001. Sampling with a Geoprobe, direct push technology boring rig,
installation of a 62 FT deep monitoring well (MW) and sampling of the ground water
have indicated that contamination exists.
