• Page 3 December 15, 2002
Well Top of Casing (TOC) elevations were established to 0 01 FT accuracy and
related to the datum of the surrounding Victor Fine Foods ground water
monitoring program by Daniel K Barber P E
A survey of surrounding wells was initiated with solicitation and gathering of
existing data from the State Department of Water Resources and information
found at the Central Valley regional Water Quality Control Board Field
verification and updating by D K Barber P E staff is in progress
Findings through the September sampling have been summarized and will be
updated following the mid December 2002 expected collection from the now
' existing six monitoring wells
General Findings to Date
Three soil source areas with diesel contamination have been identified One of the
contamination zones may extend into the adjacent eastern parcel between
already installed MW Nos 5 and 6 although soil contamination was not found and
levels less than 0 3 mg/kg of diesel were found in the groundwater sample
Groundwater contamination at between 50 to 55 FT bgs exists and likely extends
north of the site's property While the leading edge waits to be defined, the
original source underground storage tanks (USTs) is removed, levels are low and
the closest down gradient offsite well is at least 600 FT away Additionally,
residual soil contamination possibly contributing to the contamination has been
identified and removal is anticipated
1 The site'sg round waterflow, based on current Monitoring Well information is
northward, at a gradient averaging 0 0036 FT/FT declining at an average
bearing of N 27 deg E
The low concentrations of "diesel" petroleum hydrocarbons may reflect natural
attenuation of hydrocarbons released from the adjacent contaminated soil masses
Characterization of mobility and direction of any non-volatile advancing plume at this
site will require additional monitoring Definition of the leading edge will require
additional sampling beyond the plant site's property line or recognition of diminishing
levels with expected attrition and projected plume within a short distance further north
' of the properly line
Quarterly sampling of the monitoring wells will continue for at least two more quarters
