The workplan has been prepared to
describe the sampling and analytical laboratory procedures to be followed for twelve (12)
groundwater monitoring wells at the Gillies site and the drilling and sampling of one soil boring
under the former waste oil underground storage tank(UST) shown on Figure 1.
This work is being in conducted to fill data gaps that have been identified at the Gillies site for
site closure consideration. This work has been directed by San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department(SJCEHD)by letter dated September 17, 2014.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The historic site investigative activities at the Gillies site have included the drilling and
completion of 28 groundwater monitoring wells and six SVE wells between 1994 and 2011
(Figure 1). The Gillies site is currently under consideration for case closure. As part of case
closure requirements, the SJCEHD has directed additional groundwater sampling of twelve wells
and the drilling of a single soil boring under the former waste oil UST. This workplan outlines
the scope of work and detailed descriptions of how the work will be conducted. Appendix 1
includes Regulatory Agency Correspondence. Appendix 2 describes procedures to be followed
for subsurface investigations. Appendix 3 describes soil sample and groundwater sample
handling protocols. Appendix 4 is information regarding the field filtering of water samples to
be collected and analyzed for metals.
1
