EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Groundwater samples were collected from five monitor wells and one domestic well at the Gillies
Trucking yard'at 3931 Newton Road on March 27, 2003 One well was dry and was not sampled
The static water level has risen 2 5 feet since January and was between 59 and 60 feet in each well
At this depth it remains within the silt and clay of the Modesto aquitard, below the Modesto
channel aquifer and below the bottom of well GT-10 (59 45 feet)
The water elevation data were contoured to yield a map of the piezometric surface The elevation
contours form an arc around well GT-1, and the water table slopes eastward or southward In the
previou9 quarter, flow was northward
The ,water samples were analyzed for TPH-diesel, which was detected in four samples at
concentrations of 61, 83, 120, and 540 parts per billion The first two of these are only slightly
above the detection limit of 50 ppb, indicating that groundwater contamination in the aquitard is
close to the diesel detection limit in these wells The concentration of 540 ppb in well GT-6 is
'unchanged from the previous quarter, implying that the plume of contaminated groundwater was
stable during the quarter Diesel was not detected in the well nearest the former UST excavation
(GT-3) or in the Gillies domestic well
