PES Environmental, Inc.
Ms. Emily Cushman
November 4, 2016
Page 5
Quarterly Monitoring of On-Site Water Supply Wells
During the supplemental investigation, initial monitoring well sampling and on a quarterly
basis thereafter, groundwater samples from the two on-site water supply wells located in
closest proximity to the study area will be collected and analyzed for TPHg and VOCs.
Quarterly monitoring of the water supply wells will continue until the petroleum-hydrocarbon
affected groundwater plume is defined and it is determined that the water supply wells are not
threatened. The results of this monitoring will be provided initially in the supplemental
investigation report and in quarterly monitoring reports thereafter.
DATA EVALUATION AND REPORTING
Upon receipt, PES will compile the field observation data and soil and groundwater analytical
results to better assess the extent of hydrocarbon-affected soil and groundwater. A report will
be prepared which: (1) documents sample collection methodologies; (2) provides the results
of PES' evaluation with tabulated analytical data and a graphical presentation of the soil and
groundwater data; and (3) provides recommendations for further investigation, if warranted.
Support documentation, such as boring logs and laboratory reports, will also be provided as
appendices to the report.
SCHEDULE
The investigation will commence within two to three weeks of the Board's approval of the
Work Plan depending on drilling subcontractor availability and obtaining drilling permits. It is
anticipated that the field activities associated with the supplemental soil and grab groundwater
sampling will be completed in two days. Soil and groundwater samples will be submitted
promptly to the project laboratory for analysis following standard scheduling (five business
days turnaround). Once the data is received, PES will determine suitable locations for
installation of the groundwater monitoring wells and submit our installation plan to the Board
for concurrence.
The draft investigation will be provided to the Board for review approximately three to four
weeks following receipt of the analytical data. Should unexpected scheduling delays occur,
PES will provide notification to Board staff of the encountered delays and a revised schedule.
We trust that this is the information you require at this time.
148400101wao5.docx
