The drive-casing and sample barrel were advanced in this manner until the total
depth of the borehole was reached.
A soil sample from SB-1 through SB-7 were retrieved from the discrete depths of
approximately five, ten and fifteen feet below ground surface (bgs.) within the native soil below
potential areas of concern. The samples for analytical purposes were covered on each end with
Teflon, capped, sealed with tape, labeled, and placed in an insulated chest containing ice.
Two test borings (S13 I and 513-4) (perceived down gradient positions) were advanced to
toral depths not exceeding 50-53 feet bgs, respectively, and were converted to temporary wells and
"grab" ground water samples were collected. The sampling procedures followed by Vironex are.
described below::
• Hydropunching a 2-inch diameter steel casing to the bottorn of the borehole liftia.,
_ the steel casing up approximately ten feet to expose an inner slotted well ensinC; and
• Allowing the temporary well time to stabilize_
- Lowering a plastic disposable bailer into the well, collecting a ground water sample,
and lifting the water sample to the surface; and
- Decanting the sample into labeled, laboratory-provided containers and placing the
containers into an insulated chest containing ice.
Ground water was encountered at approximately 45-50 feet bgs in SB-4 after letting stand
for approximately three hours. Ground water was not encountered in SB-1 after letting stand I-or
approximately severe hours, nue to the slow recharge rate and time limitations, perceived up
gradient "grab" ground water sample~ were not collected at the subject site.
Subsequently, (lie "hydropunch" well casings were removed and all of the boreholes were
backfilled to the surface with a neat cement slurry under the direction of Mr. Harlin. The drill cuttings were collected and placed in two .5-gallon pails, whic.1i were labeled
and set aside at the subject site until further notice.
PHASE 11-02 2-2 02•F.NVO02S
