The HRA ,hours no risks to human healt;-1 or
threat to writer quality from residual contaminants :n soil beneath the Site
From 1917 to 1956, the site was used as an automotive repair facility which also dispensed gasolinc.
State Savings and Loar constructed a two-story office tiuildirg at the site in 1961 and operated it as a
bank until 1982. American Savings and Loan used the building from 19841 :o 1981. The building;is
currently vacant. Reports of investigations conducted for the site state that the subsurface beneath the site
consist.of interheddecl, snds, .tilts, and c4ys up to about 50 feet belOW the ground surface (bgs) and
groundwater is found at 25 to 36 feet bgs. The reports also state that forme:and current gas stations exist
upgradient and cross g*•adicnt of tete site, and there is no record of a tank, which was likely eXCLVatCd
during construction of t:7e building in 1961. Groundwater tnUnilering data show the presence of renal
petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel and gasoline, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes in an
upgradient well. The data also show that concentrations of those fuer. constituents are within w;,ter quality
limits at the dowrgrzdient well. Groundwater testing for oxygerates including inetl:yl tertiary hutyl ether
showed nondetectable levels in all monitoring wells. AS13 completed decommissioning its wells in
December 1999.Based on the foregoing information, no further action is required at the site.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Reryr!ed Yager
