To further determine the extent and bevel of ground water and
soil contamination installation of j`o additional monitoring wells
is proposed. Proposed well locations based on the results of the
SVCA and previous investigations are illustrated in Figure 11 -1 .
IN accordance with the San Joaquin Health Department and
California Regional Water Quality Control Board Guidelines the
holes will be drilled to the depth of approximately 30-35 feet ,
i .e . , 20 feet below the static water level or 5 feet into the
competent clay layer encountered below the water table. The
boreholes will be drilled using a hollow stem auger . During
drilling soil samples will be collected using the California
Modified split spoon sampler with brass lining starting at five
feet below the surface to the total depth of the borehole, every
five feet.
The samples from just above the water table will be analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbon and selected gasoline constituents
using modified EPA 8015 , 8020 and 602 methods as appropriate.
Boreholes will be completed on monitoring wells with screen,
0 . 020-in slot, schedule 40 at intervals 10 feet above to the 20
feet below of static water level or to the competent clay layer .
Above the screen to the surface, schedule 40 blank casing will be
installed. Each boring will be equipped with bottom threaded
plug and well cap.
Ann
An space from the bottom to approximately 2 feet above the
screen will be filled with t3 Monterey sand. Sand pack will be
covered with 2 feet of bentonite seal and cement grout to the
surface. Top of casing will be secured with water tight Christy
box, that can be opened by special wrench, and to protect the
well from unauthorized entry.
Each well after completion will be developed using either a
submerge pump oz PVC bailer (dependent upon yield ) . After well '
development all existing wells MW1 , MW21 MW3 , MW4 , and MW5 will
i
4
