I . INTRODUCTION
EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA) was retained
by Exxon Company, U.S.A. to investigate the extent and source of
r
ground-water hydrocarbons in the vicinity of former Exxon Retail
Site (RS ) 7-3942, located at 4444 N. Pershing Avenue, Stockton,
California ( Figure 1 ) . On the basis of previous investigations
` conducted by American Environmental Management Corp. (AEM 1986 ) ,
Harding Lawson Associates (HLA 1987 ) , and EA ( 1987 ) , sources
beyond this site were suspected of contributing to hydrocarbon
contamination identified in the ground water at this site. This
IVA report summarizes the results of the most recent investigation,
in which three off-site monitoring wells were installed to define
the extent of the hydrocarbons and their possible source( s ) .
r
e20/73942 1
