This letter and
attached materials should in no way be interpreted as either a
proposal or recommendation to install such a system, but only an
illustration that such a plan would be possible if required.
As previously discussed in EA' s Site Investigation report dated
August 1987 , no significant unsaturated zone soil contamination
was found. Therefore, any potential remedial measures would
address ground water . The attached drawing shows a potential
layout utilizing MW6 and/or MW2 as recovery wells. It is very
likely that pumping MW6 would be sufficient to achieve on-site
plume capture, however should additional pumping be required MW2
could also be used.
Although aquifer testing has not been done on-site, an estimate
of hydraulic properties may be made based on purging experience.
For example, MW6 was purged using a bailer on 16 July 1987 .
Purging at a rate of 1 to 1 . 5 gpm, the well did not go dry. This
is most likely due to the water-bearing characteristics of the
more permeable sand strata intersected in the upper portion of
the saturated zone at that well . This kind of yield would indi-
cate a radius of influence of :
log R = k (H2-h2 ) + log r
0733 Q
BALTIMORE ❑ CHICAGO 0 CINCINNATI 0 LINCOLN ❑ NEW YORK 0 SAN FRANCISCO
