i
GROUNDWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
A vacuum vaporizer well system, known as UVB (Unterdruck Verdampfer Brannen), has been
operating at the site since 6 February 1997 A description of the UVB system is included in an
installation report issued in June 1997 On 15 October 1998 the UVB system was shut down for
system maintenance and conversion of the vapor abatement system from a thermal/catalytic oxidizer
to an activated carbon abatement system After modification of the vapor abatement system, the
UVB system was restarted on 25 March 1999 and operated almost continuously through 23 June
1999 Since the initial start-up of the UVB system, approximately 580 pounds of TPH-g have been
stripped from the groundwater Table 2 provides a summary of 1999 field data and laboratory
analytical results for the UVB system A graphic representation of the UVB system performance
to date is shown in Figure 4
I4. WORK PROPOSED FOR NEXT QUARTER
Depths to water will be measured and groundwater samples will be collected in August 1999 The
samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX, and MTBE
The UVB system will continue to be operated and monitored and results reported in the next
quarterly report
I .
I
IF NProiccts%73942VMASTEt1WP\Q5991tx dm 2
