Cherokee Road, Stockton Program: HW
SUMMARY OF VIOLATIONS
(CLASS I, CLASS 11,or MINOR-Notice to Comply)
Routine Hazardous Waste Inspection
Notice to Comply:
# 18. Stored hazardous waste on-site for longer than 90 days. A 55 gallon drum of used floor sweep
stored outdoors adjacent to the rollup doors of the shop area had an initial start accumulation date
identified as 07/2009. As a large quantity hazardous waste facility, storage of hazardous waste can only
be stored on-site for up to 90 days=3 months. Correct by having a licensed and certified hazardous
waste hauler remove this drum of used floor sweep and provide a disposal receipt to SJC EHD within 30
days (07-29-10).
Class II violations:
# 20. Failed to completely label containers of hazardous waste. A 55 gallon drum of used floor sweep
stored outdoors adjacent to the rollup doors of the shop area did not have any hazardous waste
identification. A 55 gallon drum of waste antifreeze has properly labeled hazardous waste identification
but the words are faded and difficult to read. At all times, a container of hazardous waste must be
properly identified with the following information: words "Hazardous Waste", generator's name &
address, contents, physical state, hazardous property, and an initial start accumulation date. Correct by
identifying the drum of used anti-freeze with the above information.
• Corrected on-site with label provided for the used floor sweep.
# 21. Failed to keep containers of hazardous waste closed except when removing or adding hazardous
waste. Two 5 gallon blue buckets contained waste skimmed oil from the parts cleaner machine had no
lid or cover. Any containers of hazardous waste must be kept closed at all time to keep out debris/
contamination. Keeping containers closed prevents release of hazardous waste on the ground. Correct
by keeping the container close at all time unless adding or removing hazardous waste or immediately
empty the buckets into a properly label hazardous waste container/tank.
• Corrected on-site. Employees emptied the container of skimmed oil into the properly labeled
used oil tank.
ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE($115).
THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTION AT ANY TIME AT EHD'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE.
EHD Inspector:THUY TRAN Received By: Title:
