Attached are the reports I re erred to in our phone conversation yesterday. One shows the TCLP results for Solvair still
residue. Another shows the TCLP results for the filter elements from a Solvair system. Also attached are the aquatic
toxicity test results from used filter elements obtained from a Solvair system and the aquatic toxicity test results for two
samples of Solvair still residue. These samples were obtained from Solvair systems processing commercial drycleaning.
In reviewing the attached files I noticed that only the first page of the report for the filter cartridge components were
scanned. I will have the re aining pages scanned and forwarded to you tomorrow.
Please note that the filter el ments are comprised of metal structural components, pleated paper used to trap insoluble
materials, and activated gra ular carbon. The sample of paper submitted for analysis included two samples of paper
taken from different section of the paper element of one cartridge. Likewise, the sample of carbon submitted for analysis
was comprised of three aliqots taken from different areas in the carbon chamber of one cartridge. Each sample was
analyzed independently of t e others. Consequently, the results are reported as if each component represented the
entire cartridge. This in tur resulted in artifically high numbers. The estimated weight percent represented by the paper
and carbon in a single spen filter element are 54% and 30%, respectively.
These results suggest that t e Solvair still residue will not currently meet the requirements of the California non-hazardous
waste characteristics. For or
e filter elements, however, the results suggest that the spent filter cartridges are non-
hazardous.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments regarding this information.
Best regards,
Tim Racette
Vice President- Research nd Development
Solvair LLC
184 Shuman Blvd.
Suite 420
Naperville, IL 60563
P: 630 416 6221
10/20/2008
