1
SECTION 3
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION RESULTS
' This section describes the results of the present investigation with respect to identified
contaminant concentrations and distribution in soils along with analytical results of
groundwater sampling
3.1 Soil Investigation Results
' Summaries of laboratory chemical test results for soil samples are provided on Table 1
Analytical results for the evaluation of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil samples obtained from
borings MW-1, B-1, and B-2 indicated not detected However, analytical results indicate the
presence of total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TEPHd) and motor oil
(TEPHmo) at soil borings B-3 and B-4 Total volatile hydrocarbons (TVH) were detected at
' soil boring B-4
At a depth of approximately 20-feet at boring B-3, the TEPHd concentration was reported at
' 6,900 mg/Kg and the TEPHmo concentration was reported at 7,000 mg/Kg TEPH analyses
of the soil sample obtained from boring B-3 at a depth of 25-feet indicated not detected
Concentrations of TEPH were reported between the depths of 15 to 19-feet at boring B-4 At
boring B-4 TEPHd was reported in samples B4-15', B4-17 5', and B4-19' at concentrations of
12,000 mg/Kg , 160 mg/Kg , and 4 8 mg/Kg, respectively TEPHmo was also reported in
samples B4-15', B4-17 5', and B4-19' at concentrations of 8,300 mg/Kg , 730 mg/Kg , and
1,400 mg/Kg , respectnely TVH concentrations were reported for samples B4-15' and B4-
17 5 at 460 mg/Kg and 2 4 mg/Kg, respectively TEPH analyses of the soil sample obtained
from boring B-4 at a depth of 23-feet indicated not detected for all TEPH compounds and for
TVH
BTEX compounds were not detected in any of the soil samples tested and lead was reported at
concentrations ranging from 2 8 to 6 7 mg/Kg
' 3.2 Groundwater Investigation Results
' A summary of laboratory chemical test results for groundwater samples obtained from
monitoring well MW-1 are provided on Table 2 Laboratory results for the evaluation of
petroleum hydrocarbons in water samples obtained from monitoring well MW-1 indicated not
detected for TPH (several fractions), TVH, and BTEX Depth to static water level was
measured using an electronic water level meter On July 10, 1996 depth to static water level
was recorded at 3105 feet below the top of well casing and on October 8, 1996 it was
measured at 30 09 feet
6
1
