Weston, Inc. (WESTON(&) performed the sampling at 601 North Sacramento
Street, Lodi, California. The work was completed in accordance with our proposal dated 12 July 1995.
The following discussion describes field procedures employed at the site, and reports the analytical results
with recommendations.
FIELD ACIEKOM
Prior to starting work, WESTON acquired the necessary boring permit required by the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health division. WESTON advanced four hand augered borings through the
asphalt floor in areas of particularly heavy staining inside the buildings {Figure 1). A breaker bar was
used along with a hand auger to penetrate the asphalt floor and obtain the samples Samples were
collected by initially hand augering to the appropriate sampling depth using a 3.5-inch diameter hand
auger. One soil sample was collected for analysis from each of the borings at 1.5 feet below the
asphalt/soil interface. Each sample was analyzed for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (TRPH)
by EPA Method 418.1.
The hand auger was decontaminated using an Aleonoz detergent and a deionized water rinse, replaced
in the hole, and the soil samples were collected by augering. Each sample was transferred into laboratory
supplied glass containers appropriate for each analysis. The samples were labeled and placed in a chilled
cooler with ice and transported, along with a chain-of-custody document, to the WESTON Laboratory
in Stockton, California, a laboratory certified by the State of California to perform the required analysis.
After sampling was completed, the hand auger borings were backfilled and compacted with the soil
cuttings that were removed and the holes were patched with an asphalt patch.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Table 1 provides a summary of the analytical results. The laboratory analytical report is included as an
attachment to this letter report.
LW01 ECTSVMRM ANIRF.PORT
