09 March 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1263
Page 2 of 4
surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the Mokelumne River approximately one-half
mile north of the subject property.
The estimated depth to ground water at the property is approximately 40 to 50 feet below surface
grade (bsg), based on the map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Spring 1999 published
by the San Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD).
The map titled Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1999, also published by the
FCD&WCD, shows the property to be in an area where ground water flows toward the south-
southeast, but this may be modified by changing recharge and discharge patterns. Ground water is
considered to be of beneficial use and is used for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to collect soil samples to determine if petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or
ground water is present beneath the site. The limited subsurface investigation will include the
following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Report preparation
The preliminary site assessment tasks are discussed below.
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
A health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual.for Hazardous Waste .Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance six soil borings at the site. Each boring shall be advanced to a depth of
approximately 15 feet below surface grade(bsg). Ground water is not anticipated to be encountered.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals. Proposed probe boring locations are illustrated
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
