First Quarter 2001 Ground Water Monitoring Report
Cleanu and Abatement Order No 5-00-707 EAI Project No 1232
4.5 Analytical Testing Results
No MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, EDB, ethanol or methanol, above laboratory reporting
limits, were detected in any of the ground water samples
' Chloroform was detected in wells MW-24S (14 µg/L) and MW-24D (11 1 pg/L) It is EAI's
opinion that this compound may have originated from tap water used during installation of
these two wells Therefore, it was not included in Table 1
An increase in hydrocarbon concentration in five Ward wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4,
and MW-6) to pre-remediation concentrations is probably the result of Ward's terminating
remediation efforts in December 2000, due to Wards filing bankruptcy
' Unocal wells MW-12 and MW-19D had a slight increase in hydrocarbon concentration over
the prior quarters testing results In EAI's opinion the increase in these wells is consistent with
seasonal fluctuations typically observed in ground water monitoring wells
The March 2001 shallow and deep zone TPH-G isoconcentration maps are presented in Figures
9 and 10, respectively Note TPH-G was not detected in any shallow zone well above the
laboratory detection limit of<50 µg/L
The March 2001 shallow and deep zone benzene isoconcentration maps are presented in
Figures 11 and 12, respectively Benzene was not detected in any shallow zone well above the
laboratory of<1 µg/L
46 Future Activities
The next quarterly ground water monitoring for the site is scheduled for June 2001 A report
documenting results of the ground water monitoring will be submitted to the RWQCB by July
15, 2001
The results obtained from completing the installation of additional site wells (see Section 1 1 2)
and this monitoring event are being used to determine what remedial actions are required for
the Unocal site A remedial action plan for the Unocal site will be submitted to the RWQCB
by May 31, 2001
e
0
6HM 1272RDIl I 8
' ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT, INC
