I <br /> E11[�t® <br /> Mr James L Barton <br /> July 27, 2005 <br /> Page 8 <br /> systems will hasten removal of petroleum hydrocarbons from soil and groundwater beneath the <br /> site <br /> Soil vapor samples are collected on a quarterly basis from selected SVE wells and monitoring <br /> wells utilized for the SVE system <br /> Vapor samples collected from select vapor extraction wells during the second quarter 2005 <br /> were submitted to Air Toxics LTD (Air Toxics) in Folsom, California for analyses of VOCs by <br /> Modified EPA Method TO-3 Historical field screening results for VOCs in soil vapor samples <br /> collected from selected wells are presented in Table 10 Recent soil vapor sampling analytical <br /> results are presented in Table 11 <br /> Purse Water Waste_ <br /> Non-hazardous purge water generated during the second quarter 2005 groundwater sampling <br /> event and water extracted from the SVE system was stored in drums onsite temporarily until <br /> being transported to Evergreen Oil Company in Newark, California in April 2005 for disposal <br /> Discussion <br /> The combined AS and SVE remediation systems appear to be effective in reducing dissolved <br /> Iconcentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater ENSR intends to modify the AS <br /> system well network to hasten mass removal through volatilization ENSR received approval to <br /> proceed with a work plan to install a new air sparge well (AS-33) and modify an existing <br /> monitoring well into a sparge well (MW-23S) from the RWQCB in a letter dated May 3, 2004 <br /> As of the writing of this report, ENSR has installed air sparge well AS-33 and is in the process of <br /> scheduling field work to connect the two wells to the sparge manifold The field work is <br /> expected to be reported in the third quarter 2005 quarterly monitoring report A copy of the <br /> May 3, 2004 RWQCB letter is included as Attachment <br /> MTBE was detected in MW-25S (0 62 pg/L) during the second quarter 2005 groundwater <br /> monitoring and sampling event MTBE was not found in samples analyzed from any of the <br /> other wells during the second quarter 2005 sampling event <br /> • <br /> i <br /> Celebrating 35 Years of Excellence in Environmental Services <br />
