r Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc . o 'Northern Califnrnia 27 May 1997 AGE-NC Project No. 95-0103 Mr. Russell Chapin CHAPIN BROS. 1203 North Carlton Avenue Stockton, California 95203 Subject: Status of SVE and IAS System Operation CHAPIN BROS., INC. 1766 Monte Diablo Avenue, Stockton, California Dear Mr. Chapin: The following is an update for the setup of a soil vapor extraction (SVE) and in-situ air sparging (IAS) system at the referenced site: • On 09 May 1997 asphalt was placed over the remediation trenching network. This asphalt was installed at your request and is now a permanent fixture on the site. • The current vapor well network has allowed for additional soil vapor extraction. However, lower then anticipated extraction concentration have been demonstrated with the catalytic oxidation system. The vapor recovery is related to the intermittent operation of the SVE unit, due to an unstable power supply to the site. • As noted in conversations with you and your tenant at 1766 Monte Diablo,the power supply to the site is inadequate. Fluctuations of the power have been noted by your tenant and by representatives of Green Electrical. PG&E has confirmed this finding and has prepared an engineered solution for the power deficiency. Your PG&E representative, Ms. Sandy Cran has informed me that the most likely and soonest installation of their increased power supply to the site is during the last week of May 1997. • The soil vapor extraction system has been operating when opportunities are available, specifically during the night hours and weekends.
