DOWNEY
BRAND Mr. L. S. Turner
SEYMOUR July lo, 1991
& ROHWER Page 3
Response to Question 3 : Tank test results and
Alternative 5 or Option 5 inventory reconciliation records.
Prior to 1987, tank tests were not required and
none are available.
We do not understand your request for Alternative
5 or Option 5 records. We request you provide us with
further information concerning the nature and purpose of
these documents.
Response to Question 4 : Public agency require-
ments concerning site investigation or remediation activi-
ties.
The 1766 Mt. Diablo Avenue, Stockton, California
site has been placed in the San Joaquin County Local Under-
ground Storage Tank Oversight Program. We anticipate that
remediation of soil and groundwater will proceed as per LUFT
manual requirements although it has not yet been ordered.
Response to Question 5: Tank monitoring equip-
ment.
No tank monitoring equipment has been installed
and none has been required by the County. All tank integri-
ty tests conducted by the Chapin Bros. have shown the tanks
are leak-tight.
As stated previously, we believe that much of the
information you requested should be contained in Shell ' s
files. We would appreciate a copy of any records or other
documents Shell has concerning this site and the incident
which occurred in 1963 . If you have any questions or com-
ments, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
ae
ly yours,
G ber
SHG:stl
Enclosure
cc: Chapin Bros. , Inc.
K. P. Shell, Esq.
R. S. Vallette
EASn-27317
