28 June 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0103
Page 2 of 9
AGE conducted three separate ground water extraction pumping tests in March 2001. Analysis of
the ground water extraction data indicted that ex-situ ground water treatment was feasible; the radius
of influence generated by a pumping rate of three gallons per minute is interpreted to be adequate
to control further off-site migration of contaminants toward the west. The result the pumping tests
were reported in Ground Water Aquifer Pumping Test Report-First Quarter 2001 dated 07 June
2001, prepared by AGE.
The scope of work proposed in this work plan addendum is designed to enhance remediation of
hydrocarbon-impacted ground water.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of the work covered by this addendum includes: 1)advancement of three pilot soil borings
to install three ground water extraction wells; 2) installation, operation and monitoring of a ground
water extraction and treatment system(carbon adsorption), and 3) continued quarterly ground water
monitoring. The work plan addendum includes the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Drilling and well installation;
• Dedicated ground water pump installation;
• Installation of the ground water treatment system;
• Pumping, treatment and temporary storing produced ground water;
• Properly disposing of produced ground water;
• Preparation of monthly updates/quarterly reports.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the Public Health Services-Environmental
Health Division(PHS-EHD). In addition, an update to the health and safety plan presently on-file
will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for
Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to
mobilization,the ground water extraction well location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert. For the disposal of the treated water,discharge permit
will be obtained from the City of Stockton under a Municipal Utility District.
