Navy Drive, <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr. Wong: <br /> ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this workplan, on behalf of C&R International Sales, Inc. <br /> for the performance of a supplemental subsurface investigation activities at the above <br /> referenced site. The purpose of the subsurface investigation is to define the vertical and <br /> horizontal extent of petroleum impacted soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the former <br /> underground storage tank (UST). This work being done at the direction of San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) in correspondence <br /> dated August 14, 2000. <br /> The scope of work includes obtaining permits, advancing four soil borings and collecting soil <br /> and groundwater samples, laboratory analysis of selected soil and groundwater samples, and <br /> preparing a summary report. The scope of work is described in detail in the following <br /> paragraphs. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is the location of one former underground storage tank. In response to a PHS/EHD <br /> request for a subsurface investigation, RESNA Industries, Inc. (RESNA) was engaged by the law <br /> firm of McDermott, Will & Emery to assess the nature and extent of soil and groundwater <br /> contamination at the site. The site location is shown on Figure 1. <br /> In early 1992, a RESNA field geologist observed the drilling of three soil borings (MW1, MW2, <br /> and MW3) at the site to characterize subsurface conditions. Groundwater was encountered at a <br /> depth of approximately 15-16 feet below ground surface (bgs). The borings were advanced to a <br />
