Fax: 209-579-2222
slot sizes of 0.010 inches will be exposed allowing for groundwater infiltration. A stainless steel
bailer will be lowered inside the hollow push rods until it is immersed in groundwater.
Following soil characterization and groundwater sample collection, the boring will be backfilled
with neat cement grout to the ground surface.
Investigative Derived Wastes
All investigative derived wastes (soil, rinsate water, and groundwater) will be contained in
Department of Transportation (DOT) approved 55-gallon drums labeled as non-hazardous
waste and will be temporarily staged on-site pending laboratory results. Disposition of the
wastes will be conducted by an appropriate waste disposal subcontractor within 90 days of the
initial accumulation date. The investigative derived wastes will be managed in accordance with
State and local guidelines.
Chemical Analyses
Selected groundwater samples from the additional subsurface investigation activities will be
immediately placed in a cooler, chilled with ice, and delivered under chain-of-custody
documentation to a State-certified analytical laboratory. Groundwater samples will be analyzed
for TPHg by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015M; and for BTEX, methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary
butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-DCA, and EDB by EPA Method
8260B.
Report Preparation
Upon completion of the subsurface investigation activities, a summary report will be prepared
and will include a description of field activities, boring logs, data presented in tabular form, and
an evaluation of the vertical extent of impacted groundwater southwest of the site.
Projected Schedule
Once approval of this workplan has been received, ATC will confirm a schedule for drilling
activities. ATC will notify the SJCEHD at least 48 hours prior to beginning any field activities.
The summary report will be submitted to the SJCEHD approximately 60 days following the
completion of all field activities.
s:\environmental\25803\Reports\CPT Workplan 5
