J
s
On September 12, 1996 groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW 1,
MW2, MW4, MW6 and MW7. Samples were collected after stabilization of pH, electrical
conductivity (EC), and temperature All wells monitored were purged and sampled according
to Smith Environmental's Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan on file with the PHS/EHD
A minimum of four casing volumes of water were removed from each sampled well. A
dedicated disposable bailer was used to collect each water sample Purge water was contained
in labeled DOT approved 55 gallon drums and stored on site pending laboratory analysis and
proper disposal. Field parameters and purged volumes are shown on well purge logs included
in Appendix I.
After sampling of the wells was complete, Smith Technology personnel pumped purgewater
contained in 55-gallon drums on-site into a 500 gallon tank on-site. A sample of the
purgewater in the tank was then collected. The stored purgewater will be discharged to the
sanitary sewer following approval from the City of Stockton's waste water treatment facility
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Groundwater samples collected from the monitoring wells and the purge water sample were
placed on ice and transported under chain-of-custody protocol to state-certified Argon Mobile
• Labs in Ceres, California (DOHS Certification No. 1873) Monitoring well samples were
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA methods
8015 modified and 8020; and for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel by EPA method 8015
The sample collected from the purge water in the 500 gallon tank was analyzed for TPHg and
BTEX by EPA methods 8015 modified and 8020, and total lead. Analytical results for
groundwater are summarized in Table 2. Laboratory data sheets and chain of custody
documentation are included as Appendix II
i
9433"5 UARTLY\lQR 19%DOC 3
iYH
