On June 21, 1996 groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW 1, MW3
and MW5. Samples were collected after stabilization of pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and
temperature. All wells monitored were purged and sampled according to Smith
Environmental's Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan on file with the PHS/EHD A
minimum of four casing volumes of water were removed from each sampled well.
Accordingly, monitoring well MW2 was purged but not sampled at the suggestion of the
PHSIEHD regulator on-site due to the presence of a sheen on the water purged from the well
A dedicated disposable bailer was used to collect each water sample. Purge water was
contained in labeled DOT approved 55 gallon drums and stored on site pending laboratory
analysis and proper disposal Field parameters and purged volumes are shown on well purge
logs included in Appendix I
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Collected groundwater samples were placed on ice and transported under chain-of-custody
protocol to state-certified Argon Mobile Labs in Ceres, California (DOHS Certification No.
1873) Samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA methods 8015 modified and 8020,
respectively. Analytical results for groundwater are summarized in Table 2 Laboratory data
t. sheets and chain of custody documentation are included as Appendix II.
Please contact our office at (209) 579-2221 if you have any questions or require additional
information
Respectfully Yours,
Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation
C)`. 0 UVB
William Madison
Staff Geologist
rESSI
Tom Lutterman
Project Geologist % JE l'
Iii y- {1 l
l--
111.f1
Jeanne Homsey, P E d e,n —✓~ _z194___ a
CA Registered Engineer C47410
Attachments
9433AQUARTLraQR 19%DOC 3
•
SMTH
