1C13yt011
d('Roue SERviC[5
' 4.0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the requirements of the PHD/EHD, the fourth quarterly groundwater
monitoring event was conducted at the site Groundwater samples were analyzed for
TPH-gas, TPH-diesel, BTEX, and MTBE
The groundwater samples did not contain TPH-gas, benzene, ethylbenzene, or MTBE
above analytical detection limits Concentrations of toluene and xylene(s) were detected
in the groundwater sample from MW-2 at concentrations of 0 78 pg/L and 0 87 p.g/L
' respectively and are below the maximum contaminant levels (MCLS) for drinking water
for these constituents Concentrations of diesel were detected in groundwater from each
of the three groundwater monitoring wells at concentrations ranging from 120 pg/L to
250 pg/L These diesel-range hydrocarbons are within the range detected by analysis in
the previous three 2003 quarterly sampling events Based on the limited diesel fuel,
' toluene and ethylbenzene impact in the purge water,we recommend that it be discharged
to the local Publically Owned Treatment Works through the onsite treatment system after
approval by the PHD/EHD Groundwater flow direction is consistent with the third
' quarter 2003 result The groundwater gradient decreased from 0 0067 feet/feet to 0 0051
feet/feet this quarter when compared with the third quarter of 2003
This groundwater monitoring event concludes the quarterly groundwater monitoring
program requirements of the PHD/EHD No MTBE was detected above the laboratory
detection limits in groundwater below the site during the past four quarterly monitoring
events, demonstrating that no significant migration of fuel-related compounds is
occurring On behalf of the Learner Company, we request the PHD/EHD require no
further action for the groundwater at the site Following issuance of a"No Further
' Action" letter by the PHD/EHD, the Learner Company will abandon the wells in
accordance with the project workplan
1
' 3
S\Proj\P02263\Q4 Rpt doc
