\Cla5011 <br />' 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Clayton Group Services, Inc (Clayton) was contracted by The Learner Company to <br /> implement the Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation and Quarterly Monitoring <br /> Workplan, prepared by Clayton and dated October 2002 Work was conducted at The <br /> Learner Company facility located at 2711 Navy Drive in Stockton, California (Figure 1) <br /> Work included the sampling of three wells in the vicinity of former underground fuel <br /> storage tanks (USTs) Activities were conducted under the oversight of the San Joaquin <br />' County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHD/EHD) The Local <br /> Oversight Program (LOP) Site Code is 1204 <br /> The following report presents the procedures related to the Fourth Quarter 2003 <br /> Groundwater Monitoring conducted following the work plan <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br />' The facility is a scrap metal recycling operation that receives scrap metal and processes it <br /> for shipment and sale to offsite buyers The facility plot plan, including the former <br /> location of the USTs, is shown as Figure 2 <br /> The UST system at the site consisted of a 4,000-gallon tank that stored gasoline and a <br /> 10,000-gallon tank that stored diesel fuel This system was used to fuel site vehicles <br /> The USTs were removed in August 1996 and impacted soil was identified Subsequent <br /> soil sampling activities were conducted in October 2000 (Kleinfelder, January 12, 2001) <br />' Based on information from the October 2000 sampling, the PHD/EHD requested that a <br /> limited groundwater investigation be conducted which is the subject of the current <br /> investigation This request included the installation of three groundwater monitoring <br />' wells on the periphery of the zone of impact to determine if significant migration of fuel- <br /> related compounds is occurring These wells are required to be monitored quarterly for a <br /> period of one year Following this monitoring period, the site status is to be reevaluated <br /> 3.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING <br />' Following the requirements of the PHD/EHD for quarterly groundwater monitoring, the <br /> first monitoring event took place on January 21, 2003 Subsequent sampling was <br /> conducted on Apnl 28, 2003, August 5, 2003, and November 13, 2003 This report <br /> addresses the November 2003 sampling event <br /> Prior to purging and sampling on November 13, 2003, the depth to groundwater and total <br /> well depth were measured as follows <br /> 1 <br /> S 1Pro11P022631Q4 Rpt doc <br />
