' Clayton <br /> �GROVP SERVICES <br /> 3.0 SOIL BORINGS AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL <br /> INSTALLATION <br />' Groundwater beneath the site was determined to be at depths between 10 and 16 feet <br /> below ground surface (bgs) during the 2000 investigation Field activities conducted as <br />' part of the current groundwater investigation followed the Workplan dated October 2002 <br /> These activities included the installation of three groundwater monitoring wells, <br /> collection and analysis of grab soil samples, and the collection and analysis of <br /> groundwater from each of the wells <br />' In addition to Clayton personnel, Clayton subcontractors onsite included Gregg Drilling <br /> and Testing, Inc (drilling soil borings and installation of monitoring wells) <br /> All field activities were conducted under the direct supervision of a California Registered <br /> Geologist <br />' 3.1 PRE-DRILLING ACTIVITIES <br /> The following activities were conducted prior to drilling on the site <br />' • A kickoff meeting was conducted onsite to review anticipated activities with <br /> onsite personnel, and a Clayton geologist marked each boring location <br /> • A meeting was held onsite with a representative of PHD/EHD (Mr Harlan Knoll) <br /> Prior to the start of fieldwork, Clayton contacted Underground Service Alert <br /> (USA) so that public underground utility lines could be located prior to drilling <br /> activities The project was assigned USA Number 491851 <br />' • A site-specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared that addressed the safety <br /> issues pertinent to the site The completed Health and Safety Plan is included as <br />' Appendix A Prior to commencing subsurface activities, all participating <br /> personnel were briefed on the scope of work, the hazards associated with <br /> conditions or materials that were likely to be encountered during soil boring and <br />' well placement, safety equipment requirements and procedures, and all other <br /> concerns of the Health and Safety Plan <br />' • A well permit for the installation of the groundwater monitoring wells was <br /> obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department A <br /> copy of this permit is included as Appendix B <br />' 3.2 SOIL BORINGS <br />' Soil borings were drilled on December 5, 2002 In accordance with the PHD/EHD <br /> approved workplan, three soil bonngs were drilled to approximately 25 feet bgs at <br />' locations shown on Figure 3 Soil boring was conducted using a track-mounted hollow- <br /> 3 <br />' S\Proj\P02263\Q E Rpt doc <br />
