HMBP Training Plan
1) Use proper PPE when handling hazardous materials. Wear gloves and safety glasses when dealing
with filters. Wear gloves and goggles or face shield when handling liquids and batteries.
2) In case of earthquake: All shelves are tied down so all we need to do is inspect straps and check to
see if they are still in place and functional. Both cranes should be inspected for damage after an
earthquake. Gas meter and appliances, should also be checked for leaks.
3) In case of fire call Stockton Fire. Only try to put out fire if it is safe to do so. For Hazardous spills call
Stockton Fire Department, Ca Emergency Management Agency, Local Unified Program Agency and
National Response Center
4) In case of an emergency everyone is required to meet at the front parking area for roll call. Notice
will be given verbally.
5) In case of medical emergency contact Stockton Fire
6) Notify local Unified Program Agency, Ca Emergency Management agency and Ron Holiday or John
Harrison for any spills or release of hazardous waste.
7) Contain all threatened releases or spills so that contamination can be minimized. Oil and fuels can
be retained with absorbent or dirt to form a berm around spill. Coolant needs to be contained by
dirt or absorbent. Protect all storm drains. After containment and clean up all dirt and absorbent
has to be disposed of in solid waste drum.
8) Explain how to use fire extinguishers, oil vacuum and absorbent pads and absorbent clay to
minimize spill.
9) First person on site contains spill while the second person clears building and calls authorities as
needed. All needed phone numbers are at each phone and are to be maintained in a legible format.
10) Mechanics are responsible for keeping hazardous materials contained. They must be put into
proper containment before end of shift every night. Techs are also responsible for proper labeling
of temporary containment vessels. Must be marked with date generated and contents.
11) Forman and Service Manager are both responsible for keeping records on disposal and maintaining
labels on hazardous waste containers. Training of new personnel and annual refreshers.
