As discussed in your telephone conversation
with M. L. Young of this office, EBMUD is concerned about the
possibility of heavy earth movers, trucks and equipment crossing
the unprotected Mokelumne Aqueducts to access and off haul from
the proposed quarry operation. As you are aware, the three
Mokelumne Aqueducts are the water supply for 1. 2 million East Bay
area customers . We must make sure that adequate protection is
provided for that supply.
In order to evaluate if any additional protective measures are
required and to provide legal access for the proposed quarry
operation, EBMUD needs additional information.
We need a letter requesting the crossing and a proposed design for
the crossing. This should be mailed to me at the above post office
box number. Information to be included is contained in the attached
EBMUD document entitled "Requirements for Entry Or Use of the
Mokelumne Aqueducts R/W" .
Of special concern are:
o The anticipated maximum loads and their frequency expected
to cross at the proposed location over the 30 year life of
the project.
o The center line of the proposed crossing must be shown as it
relates to EBMUD ' s stationing.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS:SANFOR,910.
