Jennifer L. Ruiz [EHE
From: Jennifer L. Ruiz [EH]
Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2006 12:17 PM
To: 'kcambrid@ciwmb.ca.gov'
Subject: Frontier Transportation, Chino
Hi Keith,
FYI. I contacted a tire site, Frontier Transportation, that was recently assigned TPID# 1440029-01 for its location in Tracy.
According to their environmental contact person, Julian Rios (951) 830-1829, they have been self-hauling 40-60 tires at a
time to their Chino location. From there, Kennedy Tires (?) disposes of them, recaps them, etc. Julian told me that he was
inspected at the Chino location and the inspector there said the self-hauling was okay. I informed him it isn't. He didn't
know about hauling regulations and seems willing to change the company's practices to comply.
Anyway, I have not inspected the Tracy facility and made an appointment with Julian for 8/8/06 at 1 pm, when he is
planning to be in town. I wanted to contact the Chino LEA to make sure I have my facts straight, because it doesn't seem
right. If they are self-hauling and get cited, it wouldn't be good for the LEA if what Julian said is in fact what he was told by
the LEA. It would be nice to know that they aren't playing games with me, too, before I go out there. '
Thanks, Keith. Let me know how I can be of further assistance.
Jenni
i
