n .V?
La Comerciale
Closed Loop Above-Ground Recycling Water System
Monitoring Procedure
The wash water recycling portion of the hi pressure truck wash system is
comprised of numerous components which are specifically designed to make
the over-all operation and monitoring of the truck wash facility a relatively
straight forward procedure.
The first component is the dirty wash water collection and primary
sedimentation concrete slab. After the dirt and spilled food stuff has been
jetted off the truck and onto the concrete using a 3 gpm 1,200 psi coin
operated pressure pump and wand set, the dirty water drains thru a fiberglass
grating and expanded metal pan arrangement that has 118 in. holes covering
a over 50% of the entire trough top surface. The screen traps and holds all
solids larger than 118th inch. The smaller solids and greases fall thru the grate
and screen into the deep trough which has little fall to it, and is fit with a weir
at the end, prior to the pump sump, to facilitate primary sedimentation on the
trough floor. The cleaner water and greases flow over the primary weir and
into the pump sump, where it is pumped into the #1 sedimentation-floatation
tank. There are 2 submersible sump pumps with level switch control that do
this pumping. Both pumps will be throttled down to exceed the 3gpm influent
rate by not more than 33%. The second "Safety Pump" is redundant and will
take over in the event the first pump fails for whatever reason. In addition to
the pump level switch control, the sump is also fit with a hi-level blinking
light, audible alarm, and interlocking wiring connected to the hi-pressure
pump. In the event that the sump pumps both fail, the hi-pressure wash pump
will automatically shut off, preventing overflowing of the concrete collection
area and sump onto the ground.
The build up of both the sediment on the bottom of the trough and sump, and
' the trash on top of the perforated pans, will be visually monitored periodically
as experience dictates, and will be manually cleaned as required and the solids
collected for disposal at the proper disposal site.
