In addition, the onsite water well already shows an elevated Nitrate Nitrogen
level of 15.0 mg/I, which exceeds the drinking water standard of 10.0 mg/I.
Based on the information provided, the existing OWTS serving a 4-bedroom dwelling and a new OWTS to
serve a second unit dwelling with a maximum of 3-bedrooms will likely contribute some nitrate to groundwater
over time. In addition, the data indicates the shallow-aquif re being utilized for drinking water has elevated
levels of nitrate and may not be a suitable source for the potable water supply for new development. A potable
water supply that canprovide a consistent source of safe and clean_ water adequate for human consumption,
cooking, and sanitary purposes To-'r-the proposed new home needs to be established prior to the issuance of
building permits (2016 CA Plumbing Code, Section 601.2).
The provision of a reliable potable water source and documentation that the parcel can accommodate the
OWTS and 100% replacement area for both homes within the required setbacks from any water well must be
submitted prior to the issuance of a building permit. The site map for the building permit for the second unit
dwelling must be drawn to scale and must show the location of all buildings, driveways, OWTS, the OWTS
replacement areas and any water wells within 200 feet of the proposed OWTS and_replacement areas. Any
future OWTS must be installed as shallow as possible, with a maximum dof 24 inches, and the dispersal
area cannot be driven over, paved over, or used for any other purpose.
If you have any questions please contact Michael Kith, REHS, Program Coordinator at mkith(o-),sigov.org or
(209) 468-3444 "
Mi hael Kith, REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Terracon Consultants, Inc.
1868 E.
