S OAQUIN
—COUNTY --
Greatness grows here.
February 8, 2019
[Ion Chesney, PE
Chesney Consulting
PO Box 3794
Turlock, CA 95381
Linda Turkatfe, REHS, Director
Kasey Foley, RENS, Assistant Director
PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Robert McCielion, RENS
Jeff Carruesco, RENS, RDI
Michael Kith, RENS
Willy Ng, RENS
Muniappa Naidu, RENS
RE: Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study for 26783 N. Cherokee Ln., Galt
Service Request SR0078905.
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed your
Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading study report dated April 13, 2018 and has found it meets the
requirements of San Joaquin County and Code Title 9, section 9-1105.2 (d).
SPECIAL COMMENTS:
1. EHD agrees with the author of the study, Chesney Consulting, that "given the soils underlying
the subject property show inadequate permeability, it is Chesney Consulting's
recommendation to enlarge the system to the next upgrade (i.e., a 3 bedroom house to be
upgraded to a 4 bedroom system)."
2. The data indicates the onsite water well has elevated level of nitrate and may not be a suitable
source for the potable water supply for new development. A potable water supply that can
provide a consistent source of safe and clean water adequate for human consumption,
cooking, and sanitary purposes for the proposed new home needs to be established prior to
the issuance of building permits (2016 CA Plumbing Code, Section 601.2).
Note: EHD has already reviewed the Zone Reclassification project under PA -1800078 and provided
a condition letter dated April 30, 2018 to San Joaquin County Community Development.
If you have any questions please
Specialist, at (209) 468-0335.
w
Michael Kith
Program Coordinator
call Jeffrey Wong, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Cc: Robert C.
